Mali Gold

http://articles.economictimes.indiatimes.com/2013-03-12/news/37651220_1_randgold-resources-third-largest-gold-producer-iron-ore-mines

I am doing my article summary on Mali's gold production during a war with France. Mali is the third largest gold producer, and plans on enlarging their gold production by double in the next five years. Mali mining is harsh and in some cases even deadly. Miners must dig holes the size of their bodies using only picks. The mining holes are dark and cramped, with barely any breathing space. Malian gold mines are a great deposit of minerals that can be used in any way. A conflict between France and Mali would lead to areas of gold becoming conflict minerals, leading to underpaid workers digging it up, prolonging armed conflict. France is pouring in hundreds of troops into the Mali capital, and if the argument becomes a full-fledged war, the gold would be savaged, weaking the production of gold in Mali. So far, the gold abundant south still is untouched, but with France piling in, the land may be overtaken. With France pouring in, Mali takes action and immediately eliminates foreign miners out of suspicion of them taking their most prized metal. The reasons for France's conflict with Mali are mixed, but the two that are the most trustworthy are the following: France trying to push Islamist rebels out from the north and France having to repay Germany. The French are tearing down Malian mines just to get their hands on the gold that people dig up for jobs just to stay alive. Mali, in history, was the gold capital and to this day, gold is being still being dug up.

Life Is A Trail

Life is a trail that never ends
With many ways to wander and roam
Some have River Iintersections, Muddy sidepaths
Poison oak, Fallen trees
Twisting turns
Dropped trash and Dirt Debris
Mosquitos buzz and halt your way

A cliff shows dead end dropping

Others are strolls with bright green trees
Paved roads that mark the lane
So don't stop til you reach the top or vultures swarm over your head
And never look back because there always a peak or a bottom to a mountain
And you just got to keep on hiking up, because once you reach the destination
Someone else will climb the trail-
Because life is a trail

Top 100 Most Influential People In History Short Essay
#20: Antoine Lavoisier

Antoine Lavoisier was born in August 1743 in Paris, France. He is known as the “father of chemistry” and also known by his historic chemistry and biology contributions. He was a French nobleman who named oxygen and hydrogen and predicted silicon. He put together our foundation list of elements along with the metric system we use today. He was a powerful member in the aristocrat council and was the administrator of the Ferme Generale (which in English could be pronounced tax farmers He was funded by his political wealth for his [[#|studies]].

Antoine studied chemistry at a [[#|college]] called College Mazarin which led to his further accomplishments. He showed how oxygen affected the rust of metals and the role in plant and animal respiration. He proved that even though matter can change in a chemical reaction, the total mass of matter stays the same. He combined oxygen and hydrogen and found out it made water. Antoine determined that air was a mixture of gases with the help of oxygen and hydrogen. He measured heat production in animals during respiration and would later become a very well-known politic. He is influential because he tested chemistry to find our commonly used elements

History Poem:

A scream of joy by Khan and his men fills the ground of nature
A new beast to teh animals roam into the plain with wood and shield
A feild of horse and brass movie in unison to foreign prey
A tree-lined forest is a place to boast and brag for men with bow and arrow

I like the Khan and as army as a new beast. Mr. Chester
